Drop the Divide

We are more alike than different

We are teenagers from Texas who believe that faith should bring people together – not pull them apart.
In a time when communities are being divided by fear, we are choosing something different. We are choosing to show up, sit down together, and see each other as human first.
Different beliefs. One community.

About Us

My name is Sophie. I grew up in foster care, moving from place to place, never really knowing where I belonged. That feeling of not having a community that truly claims you– it stays with you. When I was ten I was adopted, and for the first time I had a mom who truly claimed me as her own. I finally felt safe.A few years later, my mom and I found Islam together. And something opened up that I hadn’t expected – a whole community that welcomed us completely, exactly as we were. I had never experienced anything like it. I finally knew what it felt like to truly belong.Today that same community is being targeted with fear. And I knew I couldn’t stay quiet. Not to argue. Not to debate. Just to say what I know to be true – that we are more alike than different. That belonging is something every person deserves – no matter what they believe. That is why we started Drop the DivideWho We Are
Drop the Divide was founded by three homeschooled teenagers from Texas who believe
the next generation can do better. Sophie is the public face of the movement and shares her story openly. Our other two co-founders are equally passionate and equally involved– they simply choose to keep their personal lives private, and we respect that completely.
We are not affiliated with any organization, nonprofit, or religious institution. This is entirely ours. Built by teens, for everyone.

Our Mission

We exist for one reason – to show that the things that unite us are bigger than the things
that divide us.
Drop the Divide is a youth-led interfaith movement built around shared meals, honest conversations, and the simple belief that every person deserves to belong. We are founded and led by teens, but our events are open to absolutely everyone – infants,
grandparents, and every generation in between. We bring together people from different faith backgrounds not to debate beliefs but to discover what we have in common.
What we believe:
Every person has dignity and deserves to be seen
Belonging is not earned – it is a human right
Young people have the power to change the conversation
Peace is built one relationship at a time
What we are not:
We do not debate religion or theology
We do not try to change anyone’s beliefs
We are not affiliated with any religious institution or nonprofit
